Rehoming an 8 year old Burmese male
Macquarie Gumnut (Mac for short) was born on Australia Day in 2018. He was the sookiest kitten in his litter and was hand raised by a family with lots of handling from when he was tiny. He has d with one of his sisters with us ever since leaving mum. At first this meant being doted on as the cats of the house for a few years before some babies joined the family. Unfortunately Mac has not adjusted very well to becoming big brother to human babies. By the time the second baby arrived and established its self as an active player in the family dynamic Mac was apparently struggling with his diminished attention. We talked to the vet and trialed tweaking our spaces/routines, we built a cat patio and tried medication to help him out with this disappointment of no longer being the member of a small, quiet family. However, despite this, he seems less than content, often sidling up for a little nip when we are sitting down, hoping for more attention/food. He has developed a frustrating penchant for eating silicone items - another tricky characteristic that diminishes his suitability for those with a young family. Essentially, we have begun to think he is more likely to flourish with someone who would enjoy spoiling a boofy Burmese boy! He has had some dental work done - a number of his teeth have been removed so will no longer be an issue for future owners.
