Border Collie x Kelpie - Rehoming
Regrettably, due to unforeseen circumstances and recent health decline, I am having to re-home my dog, Basil.
Basil is a sweet boy who loves a good belly rub, neck scratch or a scratch behind the ear. He’s high energy and requires lots of mental stimulation and exercise, which is part of the reason why I am seeking to re-home him as I am unable to provide this lifestyle for him anymore.
Unfortunately, when he was only 7 months old, he did get into a bad altercation with another dog and has since been highly reactive with other animals. He would do well in a single pet household. My hopes are that with adequate and gradual socialisation, he could be good around other pets again, however my situation hasn’t been viable to attempt re-socialisation.
I am unsure as to how his temperament would be around children as he has not been around them, but I do believe with the proper introductions and guidance he could slowly be introduced.
He is house trained, and knows several commands: sit, stay, on your bed, place, beg, bang (play dead), spin, side (comes to your side) and up. He’s food motivated and ball motivated.
He does have the tendency to dig if he is not provided sufficient enrichment, especially if he is not receiving enough exercise. I feel Basil would thrive in a home with new owners that are highly active.
Basil is desexed, fully vaccinated and receives FTW treatments monthly along with an all-wormer every three months.
He’s been a wonderful dog and it is a difficult decision to have to make but I want the best for him and hope to find him a loving home where he can thrive in the way he deserves.
The $150 price is negotiable, all I ask is that he goes to a good home with kind people that have time, energy and patience to give him a life filled with love, affection and all the walks he could desire.
