Validation of free ads

At Petstralia.com, we prioritize security and credibility - both for you as a buyer and for our sellers. That's why all free pet ads are manually reviewed and validated by our team before they are displayed on the site.

Use your common sense

It is important that you are skeptical when shopping online.
We always recommend that you have telephone contact.

You can always ask the seller for:

  1. Documentation of ownership - e.g. studbook or registration in relevant register.
  2. Health information - such as a health book or veterinary certificate
  3. A video call so you can see the pet
  4. Address and information about where the animal is staying
  5. Never transfer money because you are absolutely sure that everything is in order.

If you suspect an ad

If you are suspicious of an ad, you can always report it. We will review it quickly and remove it if it does not meet our guidelines.

UPCOMING 1 NOVEMBER 2025
MONTHLY MEETING & MINI AUCTION

Hello

The next NSW Cichlid Society Monthly Meeting and Mini Auction will be held on Saturday 1 NOVEMBER 2025.
Members and guests can enter the hall from 6.30pm onwards.
The meeting will start at 7.30pm.

WHATS ON THIS MONTH?
MEMBERS TALK

There will be a talk and discussion on current trends for cichlids in the aquarium hobby.

MINI AUCTION

Mini auctions usually start at approximately 8.30pm.
We are expecting 70 lots to go up for sale. We aren't able to advise what fish and goods will be available for sale as club members enter their lots on the night just before the auction starts.

An auction will typically have lots of the following for sale (but there is no guarantee these will be for sale on the night):

African Cichlids - a variety of species from Lake Malawi, Lake Tanganyika, Lake Victoria and also Rift Lakes.
American Cichlids - a variety of species from large Central Americans to the smaller dwarf American cichlids
Catfish and plecos - a variety of all different types of catfish, typically including bristlenose and L numbers
Dry goods - breeding caves, driftwood, aquascaping rocks, filters, etc. Note only brand new electrical items are sold at the auction.
If you would like any information about the Mini Auction, please visit the Auctions page which has detailed information about buying and selling and all of the rules.

ENTERING LOTS
For those financial members entering lots
1) Read and comply with the auction rules (see here for mini auction book in sheet and rules)
2) Read and follow the bagging rules (see here for bagging rules)
3) Read and follow the minimum sizing rules (see here for sizing rules) for the fish your are entering into the auction.
4) If you think the fish you are entering is rare, or believe we may not have this fish in our database of photos, please bring a photo along with you on a USB so we can upload the picture for the auction. If we have a picture, more people are able to see what the fish looks like before they commit to bidding!
